Invest in Canada is looking for an Investor Services Associate with a focus on investment promotion and attraction into Canada from the United States. The Investor Services Associate liaises with Trade Commissionaires in the network to target and win new investment projects. The Associate supports investors in the navigation of the investment process and provides information, key data points, and provides input into proposals.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Proactive engagement and outreach to global business leaders and key government contacts to establish strong rapports and maintain existing relationships.
  • Provide exceptional support and service to investors to inform their investment journey, including the scheduling of meetings with government contacts, advising on government programs and processes, and proactively identifying potential challenges in their investment journey.
  • Liaise with the Investment Officers in the Trade Commissionaires Service and stakeholders to enable investment in Canada
  • Coordinate and prepare investment attraction materials including proposals on Canada’s value proposition, presentations, and industry profiles.
  • Organize foreign delegation and investor visits to Canada and facilitate program development and scheduling. 
  • Contribute to strategy development on investment pitches, sector strategies and outgoing communications.
  • Track and report on all client activity using established CRM solution.
  • Work with the marketing team to identify opportunities for building new relationships and strengthening existing ones.

 

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, International Business or in a related field.
  • Graduate degree is considered an asset (MBA, Master of Economics, or in a related field)
  • 3-5 years of related experience (government – economic development, programs/policy, business development, sales and/or investment promotion)
  • Knowledge of government departments, programs, and processes.
  • Ability to build successful working relationships with senior executives in both the private and public sectors.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingualism, considered an asset (English and French)
  • Travel may be required.
